On 25th of October, the very first launch in China of Jon Fosse’s play “Someone is going to come” took place in Shanghai Theatre Academy.

In the past two days, Nordland promoted and strengthened cooperation and relations with China at the EXPO in Shanghai. 40 companies from Nordland took the opportunity to further develop the cooperation with existing and hopefully new Chinese partners.

On October 13 the Norwegian Pavilion received its 3 millionth visitors. The goal has been reached, and there is still 17 days left of EXPO. Visitor number three million was Chen Zuyi, a 58 year old banker from Shanghai.

The director of the Confederation of Norwegian Enterprise (NHO) John G. Bernander, leader of the Norwegian Confederation of Trade Unions (LO) Roar Flåthen, and Minister of Labour, Hanne Bjurstrøm, met with Chinese counterparts in the Norwegian pavilion at the EXPO in Shanghai. This was the first tripartite conference with full participation on both Chinese and Norwegian side.

On Saturday Secret Garden played for an audience of 7500 at the EXPO Performance Center. On Sunday several hundred queued up to get their CDs signed by Secret Garden frontman Rolf Løvland.

Today the Norwegian Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defence visited EXPO 2010 in Shanghai. The previous day EXPO exceeded 55 million visitors, and now has 37 days to reach the goal of 70 million visitors. The event and the area impressed the Norwegian delegation.

Several of the sponsors from Norway at EXPO 2010 Shanghai will be participating at EXPO 2012 in South Korea as well. Taking part of the Norwegian participation in Shanghai has been good for business.

When all the Norwegian guides were invited to a party with the other Nordic countries on Wednesday evening, Secretary of State Halvard Ingebrigsten took the challenge to substitute as guide along with the rest of the EXPO administration of the Norwegian Pavilion in Shanghai.

Tora Aasland, Norway’s Minister of Research and Higher Education, visited EXPO last week in conjunction with a seminar on the polar environment and climate research. She seized the opportunity to express a wish for more Norwegian students to study in China.

Friday June 25, the Norwegian pavilion at the 2010 Shanghai EXPO welcomed its millionth visitor.

At first, the 48-year-old AC technician Zhu Xingwei from Changzhou, Jiangsu Province thought he had done something wrong as he was pulled aside and congratulated by State Secretary Halvard Ingebrigtsen from the Norwegian Ministry of Trade and Industry, Pavilion Director Espen Guterud and General Commissioner Arild Blixrud.

Every second week, Norway at Expo will launch questions related to the Norwegian Pavilion. The platform used has more than 300 million active users.

HRH Crown Prince Haakon of Norway opened Norway Pavilion Day at Expo 2010

On 11 May, the Norwegian Pavilion received its most distinguished visitor to date. The son of China's great leader Deng Xiaoping, Deng Pu Fang, was welcomed by Governing Mayor of Oslo, Stian Berger Røsland, and Commissioner General Arild Blixrud.

Manger School Brass Band just finished their very successful 7 day long Shanghai tour. The visit included performances on the Norwegian Pavilion Day on May 28 as well as several other concerts and activities. Their inspiring and fun shows gave something really typical Norwegian to a curious Chinese audience!

Top researchers from China and Norway within the field of climate- and energy technology have mapped out a range of subjects for further cooperation.

During two days at the Norwegian Research Council’s seminar at the 2010 Shanghai Expo, leading Norwegian and Chinese researchers discussed future cooperation for research into renewable energy, carbon capture and carbon storage.

The Trondheim based Symphony and Choir Trondheim Symphony Orchestra (TSO) will tour China from the 20th to 29th of May, as part of the orchestra's centennial celebrations. The tour begins at the Beijing Century Theatre on May the 21st.

(01.05.2010) Today the Norwegian Pavilion opened at EXPO, and the pavilion proved to be popular among the visitors for the Opening Day.

Norway at Expo has signed a cooperation agreement with China State Shipbuilding Cooporation (CSSC) Pavilion. The Pavilions will exchange VIP visitors and promote each others' activities.

The Nordic Countries launched their program for cooperation for the run up to and duration of the World Expo 2010 in Shanghai today.

(23.12.2009) Norway at the Expo 2010, Shanghai is proud to announce a creative partnership with Secret Garden. As part of Norway’s participation at the World Expo in Shanghai, Secret Garden and Norway at the Expo will work closely together to bring our concept 'Norway. Powered by Nature' home to Chinese people.

This week Norway at EXPO together with jazz band The Core visited several Chinese cities, among them Nanjing, Harbin, Changchun and Dalian.

Due to the recent shift in Oslo City Council, the political responsibility for Oslo’s EXPO participation has changed. NTNU (Norwegian University of Science and Technology)
in Trondheim is also replacing their deputy board member for the EXPO board.

(28.09.09) The 28th of September the CEO of DNV and Chairman for Norway at EXPO, Mr. Henrik Madsen, visited the Norwegian EXPO site in Shanghai. Mr. Madsen together with DNV’s local managers in Shanghai were introduced to the building process of the Norwegian pavilion.

23rd of June, one of the fifteen trees that will be the foundation for the Norwegian pavilion at EXPO 2010 in Shanghai, was successfully erected at Moelven Limtre.

(05.06.09) In June one of Asia’s biggest environment seminars, China International Environmental Protection Exhibition and Conference (CIEPEC) was held in Beijing.  Every year the 5th of June marks the World Environment Day. In this spirit an environmental seminar was arranged by The Norwegian Embassy in Beijing, China Enterprise Confederation, Norway at EXPO and Innovation Norway 

During the 184 day-long Shanghai EXPO in 2010, Norway along with 230 other countries and organizations are showing off the best they have to offer. Innovation Norway and the newly established Norwegian Fashion Institute are now collaborating to create an arena for presenting the very best of Norwegian design and fashion.

Norway’s Deputy Minister for Trade and Industry, Miss Rikke Lind today shuffled the first symbolic spade of earth at Norway’s Expo Cite in Shanghai.  

(23.01.09) In late January the board of Norway at EXPO 2010 sat down to discuss their role in the project, with much enthusiasm.

The seminar was honoured by State Secretary and Deputy Minister of the Norwegian Ministry of Oil and Energy, Mrs Liv Monica Stubholt , who gave a very engaging opening speech. Further presentations were given by several Norwegian companies illustrating their many interesting activities within the area of energy efficiency and the renewable energy sector in China.

Will Norway beat Denmark at the finishing line? While the Danes are waiting for the Copenhagen City Council to decide whether or not the famous Mermaid will be sent to China, the Norwegians are silently working to send Norway’s pride Sinnataggen to the EXPO in Shanghai 2010.
